Keeping your home or business clean can be challenging, but over the years of keeping a shop clean and cleaning my house, I have learned a lot about cleaning. I've learned how to clean in order to impress clients, and I've learned how to keep my house clean in spite of children bringing in dirt and mess all the time. I love to write so decided to start this blog. Here, I am going to share a range of cleaning tips with an emphasis on the "old school", homemade or natural tips. However, sometimes, truthfully, you need chemicals and professionals so I will also delve into those topics. Thanks for reading and good luck with cleaning.

Why Have Your Windows Cleaned Before You Sell Your House?

Marta Vicente

Once your home goes on the market, you'll do some work to make sure it looks good. You'll have a good tidy up inside and clean up your garden. You may even get around to doing those minor repairs you've been avoiding for so long.

As part of this process, you should look at your windows. If you don't have them cleaned regularly or haven't had time to clean them yourself recently, then this is worth doing now.

Why do clean windows matter when you are selling your house?

Prospective Buyers Like Clean Houses

Potential buyers make judgement decisions about properties in a lot of different ways. Their first impression comes as they walk up to and into your home. If you have a neat and tidy front garden, a well-maintained drive, and sound paintwork, then buyers immediately feel positive.

While this first impression is important, it's not the only one that matters. As people look around your home, they make lots more judgement decisions. Ideally, you want these to be positive rather than negative.

Buyers will notice if your windows are dirty and dusty. Even though this is a small thing that is easily fixed, it may make them feel more negative. People like properties that are clean and tidy; they may not like your home as much if you aren't on top of your housekeeping.

If your windows are sparkling inside and out and your windowsills are clean and tidy, then your buyers can't feel negatively about them. If they think about them at all, they'll be positive.

Clean Windows Showcase Your Home

Dirty or dingy windows don't just make you look like a lazy housekeeper; they also have a negative effect on the way the interior of your home looks. They can detract from the appeal of a room.

For example, a dirty window won't let in enough light. Its room may look dark and a bit dingy. Some buyers may be turned off if they feel that a home doesn't get a lot of natural light.

If your windows are all clean, then they'll let more light in. Your rooms will look brighter and more appealing.

So it's worth contacting local window cleaning professionals and asking them to give both the outside and inside of your windows a good spring clean. Some services also clean other window areas like sills and screens, saving you another couple of jobs.
